THE ART OF CARLOS LINARES

Madrid Noir is a VR short film produced by NoGhost Animation Studios in London. It tells the story of Manolo, a private detective, and Lola, his niece. 

This noir cinema flavoured story takes place in Madrid during the last century. And because of this, the director wanted a “spanish seasoning” in the acting, personality and mannerisms of the characters. And this is why I joined the team.

Since it is a VR project, there won’t be proper cuts and camera movements (the ones you are about to watch have been added later on for reel purposes). That’s why I consider this a job with a foot in animation, while the other is in storyboarding. My focus then was to develop the general choreography and pace of the scenes and sequences I was assigned.
